Gorey or balloon-like popping? Fatal or reformation?
  1. Half way between the two. No need to go into nasty, Saw-like detail about it, but at the same time it should be made known that they were a living being beforehand.
  2. Fatal, to the extent that a fictional character can reach. Being able to reform oneself afterward just cheapens the act to the point that it may as well have not happened at all.
